• Senior Backend Engineer with 5+ years of professional backend engineering experienceMust

• Startup or high-growth scale-up experience with comfort building in ambiguity
• Multi-currency systems or cross-border payment processing experience
• Fluency in both Spanish and Portuguese

What you'll do

• Design and build scalable, reliable backend services for financial transactions
• Design and build RESTful and GraphQL APIs
• Design inter-service communication using gRPC, message queues, and event-driven architectures
• Design and optimize relational and non-relational database schemas (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)
• Own backend features end-to-end from scoping through deployment and monitoring
• Implement security best practices: authentication, authorization, input validation, data protection
• Integrate LLM API calls (OpenAI, Anthropic) into backend services
• Build backend pipelines that consume AI-generated outputs safely with validation and fallback scenarios
• Collaborate with AI and data science teams to integrate model outputs into backend APIs
• Use AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) fluently in development workflow
• Instrument services with structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to production incidents
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and deployment practices
