About the role

Role Title: Video Data Collector (Smartphone) Role Type: Contractor Location: Remote micro1 is engaging experienced Video Data Collector (Smartphone) contributors to support an innovative customer project across select countries: UK, Canada, India, Singapore, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. Scope of Work • Capture natural, first-person video footage of everyday activities in real-world environments using your personal smartphone with a head strap (initial phase). • Carefully follow detailed capture instructions and submit video recordings through an internal platform, ensuring all required metadata is complete and accurate. • Leverage your initiative to independently identify shooting locations within approved settings and comply with privacy, consent, and safety protocols. • Transition to using company-provided video equipment and updated workflows in subsequent project phases, recording across public, commercial, and outdoor settings. • Coordinate and record group activities with others when assignments require additional participants, ensuring all written consents and permissions are obtained. • Maintain high standards of data quality and reliability throughout the project to ensure all deliverables meet specified guidelines. • Communicate effectively with project coordinators, reporting progress, challenges, or clarifications as required. Preferred Qualifications • Proven experience in video capture or similar data collection activities, with a keen eye for detail. • Reliable access to a high-quality personal smartphone suitable for video recording (for the initial phase). • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a particular emphasis on accuracy and clarity in submissions and correspondence. • Ability to follow complex instructions with meticulous attention to privacy, consent, and metadata requirements. • Comfort navigating both home and public environments for data collection, with adaptability to evolving project needs. • Demonstrated ability to collaborate or coordinate with others when group recordings are assigned. • Flexibility to manage varied tasks and adapt quickly to new workflows and equipment as the project evolves.
