This is a remote position. Overview PCOS Sisters Telehealth Clinic & Wellness Center is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Research student in a Doctorate program (e.g. DNP, Ph.D., MD, DO, PharmD, or equivalent) to join our team for a remote internship focused on understanding the complex facets of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). This internship is specifically designed for a researcher interested in women’s health and endocrinology, with a strong commitment to addressing the clinical and psychosocial challenges faced by individuals with PCOS. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Lynsey Johnson, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, on research projects, contribute to new study design and execution, and receive mentorship aimed at developing an independent research career in this field. *This program is online with collaborative meetings over zoom. Key Research Areas The residency offers exposure and involvement in several key research areas, including but not limited to: • Metabolic and Cardiovascular Risk: Investigating the links between PCOS, insulin resistance, obesity, and long-term cardiovascular health. • Reproductive and Endocrine Function: Studying the mechanisms underlying anovulation, hyperandrogenism, and hirsutism in diverse populations with PCOS. • Psychosocial Impact and Quality of Life: Assessing the mental health burden (e.g., anxiety, depression, body image issues) and developing interventions to improve the quality of life for women with PCOS. • Novel Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approaches: Exploring the efficacy of new pharmacological, nutritional, or lifestyle interventions for managing PCOS symptoms. • Genetic and Epigenetic Factors: Contributing to studies investigating the underlying biological risk factors associated with the syndrome. Responsibilities The Research Resident will be expected to: • Project Management: Coordinate and manage specific research protocols, ensuring compliance with institutional and ethical guidelines (IRB). • Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct literature reviews, recruit and screen study participants, collect high-quality clinical and laboratory data, and perform statistical analysis under supervision. Experience using statistical software [ e.g., R, SPSS, SAS] is preferred. • Dissemination: Prepare abstracts for national and international conferences, write manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication, and assist with grant proposal preparation. • Clinical Exposure (Optional/If Applicable): Participate in relevant clinical activities to enhance translational understanding. • Mentorship: one-on-one mentorship sessions. Application Process • A current Curriculum Vitae (CV). • A Letter of Interest (maximum 2 pages) detailing research experience, career goals, and specific interest in PCOS research Requirements Qualifications Required • Enrolled in a Doctoral program (DNP, MD, PhD, DO, PharmD, or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Nursing, Medicine, Endocrinology, Epidemiology, Public Health, or Biomedical Sciences. • Demonstrated record of academic excellence and a strong interest in women’s health and PCOS research. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
