About the role

DVT is a leading technology consulting and software engineering company delivering innovative solutions across Africa and internationally. We partner with clients to solve complex business challenges through software engineering, cloud platforms, data, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. Our teams combine deep technical expertise with a strong consulting mindset to create measurable business value. We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Fabric Cloud Platform Engineer to help clients establish, automate, and operationalise Microsoft Fabric environments using cloud engineering best practices. This role is ideal for a cloud platform engineer who enjoys building secure, scalable foundations for data and analytics teams. You will work closely with cloud, security, architecture, and data engineering teams to design and implement Microsoft Fabric platforms that are reliable, governed, and ready for enterprise adoption. Requirements Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement Microsoft Fabric platform foundations, including capacities, workspaces, OneLake, environment structures, and platform configuration. • Establish and manage DEV, TEST, and PROD environments and deployment strategies. • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and other automation technologies. • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub. • Implement security, identity, and access controls using Microsoft Entra ID and RBAC. • Integrate Microsoft Fabric with Azure services and broader cloud platforms. • Develop reusable automation and deployment patterns to ensure consistency and scalability. • Support monitoring, logging, operational readiness, and platform governance. • Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to enable workloads and remove platform barriers. • Produce technical documentation, standards, and operational runbooks. • Provide technical leadership and guidance on Fabric platform architecture and engineering practices. Essential Experience & Qualifications Required • 5+ years of Azure Cloud Engineering experience. • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. • Azure certifications would be advantageous. • Terraform, DevOps, or cloud platform certifications are beneficial. • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and its core platform components. • Experience implementing Fabric capacities, workspaces, and OneLake. • Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience. • Experience with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub CI/CD pipelines. • Experience implementing Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, and cloud security controls. • Experience designing and managing Fabric environments across DEV, TEST, and PROD. • Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, governance, and operational best practices. • Experience automating cloud platforms using PowerShell and/or Python. • Experience working within enterprise cloud environments. • Good understanding of data platform concepts and how data workloads consume cloud infrastructure. Advantageous Experience • Experience establishing a Microsoft Fabric platform from the ground up. • Experience with Fabric REST APIs and platform automation. • Experience integrating Fabric with Azure services. • Understanding of data ingestion workloads and notebook-based solutions within Fabric. • Experience working in regulated or governed cloud environments. • Exposure to FinOps and cloud cost optimisation practices. • Experience collaborating across Cloud Engineering, Data Engineering, Security, and Architecture teams. Important to Know This is a Cloud Platform Engineering role, not a Data Engineering role. The primary focus is establishing, automating, securing, and operating the Microsoft Fabric platform rather than building data pipelines, analytics models, or reporting solutions.
