About the role

Role Title: Computational Mathematics Expert Role Type: Contractor Location: Remote micro1 is engaging Computational Mathematics Experts to participate in an exciting customer project at the intersection of advanced mathematics, AI, and software engineering. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. We are particularly interested in professionals who seamlessly integrate AI coding agents—such as Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork—into their technical workflows, especially for generating and refining code sequences (not simply chat-based tasks). Scope of Work • Deliver detailed, real-world examples of utilizing AI coding agents (Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, Claude Cowork) for computational mathematics projects. • Describe and document workflows where AI agents have been leveraged for complex technical problem-solving—such as navigating extensive codebases, debugging sophisticated issues, implementing end-to-end features, or conducting architectural changes. • Provide high-quality written and verbal explanations of challenges, project objectives, and the specific roles AI agents played in achieving results. • Evaluate and articulate the effectiveness of different AI agent tools for solving ambiguous or open-ended mathematical or coding problems. • Submit concise reports highlighting project complexity, problem context, and decision-making processes powered by AI agents. • Contribute feedback on the practical integration and limitations of AI tools within computational mathematics domains. • Participate in remote consultations or knowledge-sharing sessions when needed. Preferred Qualifications • Current STEM professional with hands-on experience in computational mathematics and AI-driven coding workflows. • Demonstrated proficiency in Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork, with a focus on using these tools to generate actionable code sequences. • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively in both written and verbal formats. • Track record of applying AI agents to advanced tasks—such as debugging, architectural modification, or handling large, ambiguous problem sets. • Experience working remotely and managing deliverables independently. • Ability to analyze, document, and reflect on the value and boundaries of AI agent usage in technical settings. • Enthusiasm for advancing the practical adoption of AI within computational mathematics.
