Requirements

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for commercial teams
  • Design and deliver training modules across multiple formats (face-to-face, e-learning, workshops, role-playing)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Product Management to integrate product updates and market trends into training materials
  • Assess individual training needs and tailor development initiatives to address skill gaps
  • Lead virtual coaching sessions and webinars on account planning and complex sales scenarios
  • Evaluate training program effectiveness using performance metrics and feedback mechanisms
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and career progression development
  • Align training initiatives with broader commercial strategies and leadership goals
  • Stay current with industry best practices in training and adult learning methodologies
  • Lead and facilitate major sales training meetings including the Global Sales Meeting

Summary The Director, Sales Training and Development will play a critical role leading the strategic development, management, and execution of commercial training and sales enablement programs for Aspen Surgical. Leading our commercial training and development approach, this role is responsible for crafting and delivering dynamic training programs across various mediums including e-learning and live sessions in partnership with the Product Management team. This position works across key commercial stakeholders to enable us to execute our global product strategy to maximize revenue and profitability of the Aspen Surgical product portfolio. In this position, you’ll have the opportunity to • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs to equip the commercial team with in-depth knowledge of our products and services, ensuring a thorough understanding of features, benefits, and competitive advantages. • Design and deliver effective training modules both face-to-face as well as e-learning, incorporating various learning methods such as workshops, online resources, and role-playing exercises to enhance skill development and product expertise. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to stay updated on product updates, market trends, and competitive intelligence, integrating this information into training materials to keep the sales force informed and adaptable. • Assess the individual training needs of the team and tailor training initiatives accordingly, addressing skill gaps and promoting continuous improvement in performance. • Lead virtual coaching sessions and webinars to enhance the sales team's ability to execute effective account planning, develop strategic relationships, and navigate complex sales scenarios, ensuring consistent and interactive learning experiences for team members. • Utilize performance metrics and feedback mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, making data-driven adjustments to continuously improve the quality and impact of the sales training initiatives. • Foster a culture of continuous learning by developing ongoing training and development plans that support career progression within the team. • Collaborate with commercial leadership to align training initiatives with broader strategies and goals, ensuring a cohesive and coordinated approach to skill development. • Stay abreast of industry best practices in training and adult learning, incorporating innovative techniques and technologies to keep the training program current and engaging. • Cultivate a collaborative and positive learning environment, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing among team members to enhance overall team performance. • Provide ongoing, continuous training for all sales teams, reinforcing key initiatives, supporting product launches, and driving sustained performance across the organization. • Lead and facilitate sales training meetings, including the Global Sales Meeting, ensuring strong leadership engagement, alignment, and effective delivery of key training initiatives. • Engage and manage relationships with third-party partners and platforms to support scalable and effective training programs. • Communicate training strategy, priorities, and outcomes across all levels of the organization, including executive leadership, articulating current state, future roadmap, and overall business impact. What you need to succeed in this position • Bachelor’s degree is required, with a major in Marketing, Sales, Business, or related field. • 7-10 years of experience in sales and/or sales training with medical device experience highly preferred. • Deep understanding of learning and development principles • Deep stand-up training experience, specifically with selling skills curriculum. • Proficient in working within digital learning platforms (e.g. Articulate 360, LMS Platforms, etc.) • Success building, communicating, and executing commercial training programs to deliver growth. • Deep experience with adult learning modalities including various mediums (e-learning, virtual, in person). • Strong clinical competency, strategic mindset, business insight and analytical skills. • Ability to lead cross-functional teams. • Self-motivated with track record of establishing and executing against goals with passion and urgency. • Strong analytical skills and exceptional skills in communication and presentations. • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time. International travel may also be required.
